Whois Privacy Protection, at times also called WHOIS or Whois Privacy Protection, is a service that conceals the authentic contact info of domain registrants on WHOIS check sites. Without such protection, the personal name, street address and email account of any domain name owner will be freely available. Supplying fake details during the domain registration process or changing the real details later will simply not work, as doing such a thing may result in the domain registrant losing their domain name ownership rights. The policies adopted by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, require that the WHOIS info must be correct and up to date at all times. The Whois Privacy Protection service was launched by domain registrars as an answer to the rising concerns for potential identity theft. If the protection service is enabled, the registrar’s contact info will be displayed instead of the domain name registrant’s upon a WHOIS check. Most domains support the Whois Privacy Protection service, even though there are certain country-code ones that don’t.

Whois Privacy Protection in Website Hosting

If you have ordered a website hosting from our company and you’ve registered one or more domain names under your account, you will be able to enable Whois Privacy Protection for any of them with ease and to keep your personal details intact. Of course, this can be done only with the TLD extensions that support such an option. In your Hepsia Control Panel, you’ll find an “Whois Privacy Protection” button to the right of each of your domain names. Its color will let you know whether a domain is Whois Privacy Protected or not and in the second case, you can enable Whois Privacy Protection with only a few mouse clicks. Thus, you can secure your private information even if you haven’t enabled the service upon registration. You will be able to renew or to disable the Whois Privacy Protection service for any of your domains just as easily.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you want to conceal the contact information associated with your domain and you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, you will be able to enable our Whois Privacy Protection service either during the account order procedure or at any moment later through our Hepsia hosting Control Panel. The service is optional and can be enabled with several clicks of the mouse from the Control Panel’s Registered Domains section where all the domains that you’ve registered through us will be displayed in alphabetical order. You can enable Whois Privacy Protection for any of the domain extensions that support the service by simply clicking the “Whois Privacy Protection” logo on the right-hand side of each domain name. In the same manner, you can also renew the service or turn it off – if you wish to transfer a domain name to some other company and you need the actual email associated with the domain name to be visible.
